Being a cut-up

Hello all you weekend warriors

I am watching a show on the Spike cable network called Deadliest Warrior. I know you are thinking, "Boy this guy watches a lot of violent television." The premise of this show is that people study weapons and fighting styles of two groups of people. They try to determine scientifically which weapon is the deadliest.

It is interesting. Most of the weapons are pretty destructive. The majority of them do intense damage to a human body. It appears they cut a deep gash into someone or crush a skull.

I do not think that I would make a good warrior. I would run if I saw this weapons. I am not sure how fast I would be able to get away.

It's a hit

Hello all you sports fans

Wendy and I went with our Sunday School class to a Durham Bulls baseball game. It was a pretty good time. The Bulls lost by 6 runs. It was a rough night for the Bulls. They did hit one home run, but the Buffalo whatever they were outplayed them.

The food was pretty good. We had a jumbo dog, which is basically a regular hot dog. It was just a normal hot dog. We had some popcorn, which was pretty good. I am not a big popcorn eater, but I had a decent amount last night. Along with our dinner we had nachos with cheese and jalapeno peppers. The chips were good, but we had plenty of the peppers and cheese left over. Last we split a soft pretzel. I have wanted to try a soft pretzel for awhile. I had my chance last night. It was pretty good.

At the game I saw two people I recognized from school. In a crowd that size, it was about 8,000, I knew two people. That is pretty good because I don't know a lot of people.

Fortunately the rain held off until the end of the game. It sprinkled in the eighth inning and then stopped. After the game there were fireworks. Right as they were bring the fireworks out it began to rain. We got up from our seats and were able to find shelter to watch the fireworks. The fireworks were pretty and impressive. The finale was two loud booms.

As we were leaving it was pouring down rain. Plenty of people walked by who were soaked. We waited under the shelter for about 15 minutes. Finally it slacked off enough for us to make it to the parking garage without getting drenched. We made it back to Cary safe and somewhat dry. Apparently it had not rained much in Cary.

I would say last night was a hit, even if the Durham Bulls did not get many and gave up to many.

I'm not hip

Hello all you high kickers

For the past several weeks I have had pain in my right leg. Many of you non-existent readers will know that I have had pain in this leg in the past. It seemed to have gotten better, but now the pain has returned. So it looks like I walk with a limp because I cannot put even pressure on my right leg. I am not even sure where the pain is. Sometimes it feels like my hip, then it moves to other places. I do exercises to help. Sometimes it helps, but I still feel it.

The hardest part is going from standing still to moving. It feels like I was locked and that I have to warm up to move. I have been to a few doctors and they don't have much to say. One doctor said I should visit a rheumatologist, which I have not yet. At the time my leg felt better.

What brings this painful to read post is that this morning my supervisor mentioned the leaning walk. I do look pretty crooked, without the pretty. So maybe I am a crook, or at least walk like one.

I am hoping it will improve. Maybe I can work out the clinks and straighten up. That might solve one problem I have.

Off track

Hello to all you rolling with the punches

Last night I was checking my messages on my phone. It has a track ball to help me navigate the screen. I deleted the messages that were junk, both of them. Then I saw that I had a text message. In the layout of the phone this icon is above where I can check my e-mail. To my dismay and agitation I noticed that I could not make the cursor go up. The track ball appeared to be stuck. It would go down and left to right with ease, but not go up.

I did what I could, which was not much, but still success eluded me. Wendy suggested I turned the phone off. I tried that but nothing. It still seemed stuck. We took out the battery to let the phone reset itself. Did not work. Wendy suggested changing the setting on the track ball. I used her phone to figure out where that setting was. I found it on her phone, but of course on my the cursor was at the present time lower than where I needed to be.

After cutting the phone off and on I was able to get the cursor in the right position to make the changes. I made the changes and viola! It worked! For two seconds. I did find that I was able to move the cursor if I slid my finger somewhat under the ball. It is hard to explain, but it worked.

Wendy seemed to think it might work better in the morning. I gave it a try this morning and it seemed a little more free. I actually had to return the setting back to lower because it was moving too fast and I could not click on what I wanted.

It is not working at 100%, but I can deal with it at least. At least I will be called when the roll is up yonder.

Wearing huggies

Hello all you who open your arms wide

I saw in the paper the other day that the act of hugging is on the rise. It seems that more young people are expressing themselves through this act. Now I did not read the whole article, so I don't have the all the facts.

It seems that even males are on trend of opening up. One person the paper interviewed believed that the increase in physical touching was that young people often stay in contact with others not face-to-face (like Facebook, Twitter, IM), so when they do see each other they want to be more expressive.

I think that people do enjoy physical contact. It is nice to be felt like you are wanted. Many people I know enjoy hugging and to be hugged. With all the personal information being shared it is like you already know about your friends so why not have better personal contact with them?

The next generation may become the touchy-feeley generation. They have so many ways to express themselves.

Might as well share the love. It may be the best part of the day. While you are hugging the person, maybe you can lift that wallet. Just kidding! It will be empty anyway.

Lie to me

Hello all you bed heads,

I would have joined your revolution if I made it to bed at a decent time. I did not get to bed until this morning. Wendy woke me up at midnight to go to bed. I was dead to the world on the couch since 7:30.

Last night I did not feel like reading and there was nothing worth watching on TV. I became tired and passed out. I vaguely heard Wendy moving around and the next thing I know she was waking me up to go to bed.

Well I made my bed so I will lie in it.

Put the seat down

Hello all you left or right behinds

Last night Wendy and I went to workout for the first time in about a month. At least it was the first time for me in a long time. The machines in the workout room are somewhat automated. You put in a personalized code and it tells you your settings for the seat and how much weight. However, you have to manually adjust to your settings.

I was having a lot trouble adjusting the seat for some reason. You have to raise it slightly for it to adjust. It would not move or I would drop down too far. It was tough for me to get it in the right position.

I must have eaten a power bar or something before I had my appointment to determine my settings. Although it is easier to lift one than twelve. Last night I had trouble lifting my presets on most of the machines. I guess the purpose is to gain strength.

The machines that are hard for me are the ones that involve the arms. I feel weak when I am on them. I do not like the one where you face out and stretch your arms out. I cannot do much weight on them at all. It would probably help if I worked out more.

I guess the saying is true...there are strength in numbers.

Ice cram

Hello all you sweet teeth

I enjoy eating ice cream. It is one of my favorite treats. Wendy and I had our share of it this weekend. We were out grocery shopping and saw a reduced price chocolate cake. What is better than cake? Cake and ice cream! So we picked up some Breyer's ice cream. Wendy picked out some chocolate mint and I picked out chocolate chip cookie dough.

We enjoyed eating the cake. Unfortunately, most of the icing of cake ended up on the container. However, we did our best to clean that off.

I think we will be desserted out. Besides the cake and ice cream, we had an ice coffee drink on Friday and a milkshake on Monday.

I would rather be sweet than sour though.

Nicked myself

Hello all you young at heart

The other day, for the whole weekend, Wendy and I had her niece, Maya, over. She greatly enjoys the Internet and cable television. It is amazing that children now are so comfortable with technology. They know more than I do.

We had in the background the television on to Nickelodeon. Wendy was on one computer. Maya was on her computer. I was reading. The television program was I think ICarly. Then something called Tru Jackson VP. I had seen a few episodes of ICarly, but had never heard of the other show. Not that I had cable growing up, but I remember that Nickelodeon was known for its children's programming. It seemed when I was growing up cartoons were the big draw. I think children today want to see other children acting. They have the choice between Hannah Montana, Zack and Cody, Jonas Brothers, ICarly, and many others that I cannot identify.

There are some things that I noticed in watching these types of shows. One of the things is that the characters are often female. The girl is the one in charge or coming up with the plan to save the day. Most of the time the child is in a role of power. Somehow the child is president of operations, a singer, or something of some importance. It does seem to me that the adults are insane. Maybe that is why the children are on their own without supervision. Another thing I noticed is that the plots often involve revenge. A character will do something to the lead and the lead and friends will get back at that person, usually involve the person getting arrested or getting a wedgie. Both of which are pretty embarrassing and uncomfortable.

I guess children have to have someone to look up too. Why not someone who makes lots of money and in the end saves the day-all in 30 minutes?

Sleeping with the fishes

Hello all you sea legs

No, I did not go fishing. I have not been hooked to that yet. Yesterday was the opening of the pool at our local Y. So since we had Wendy's niece, Maya, we decided to check it out. Maya loves to swim at her local pool and does it quite often. Wendy also enjoys the aqua. I can take it or leave it. I like to drink it and bathe in it, but that is about it.

So we head over to the water late Saturday afternoon. Right as we pull into the parking lot it begins to rain. We had noticed it was a little overcast, but we were hoping for the bright skies. So we waited under a little tent with deck chairs for the rain to stop. Fortunately, the sky was blue so the rain let up after 15 minutes. The guards let everyone back in, which were able 10 kids, Maya, Wendy, and me. We swam for a little bit. The water was cold to me. I like hot or least warm water. I have to even shower with warm water.

The pool was deeper than I thought. It started out at 4 and went to 9. It puts your height in perspective when you are in 5 ft water and your head is barely over the water. We went into the deep and I had to hang onto the side. I could not tread enough to maintain buoyancy in the deep water. I have learned that I am greatly out of shape, but I have never been much of a swimmer to begin or end with.

Wendy and I got out after a few minutes. Maya still continued her underwater tour. The Y also has a slide which Maya enjoyed.

Perhaps one day I will be able to pool my physical resources and enjoy the water.

A little bit touched

Hello all you hands on types

Wendy will be the first in line to tell you that I am weird. How she puts up with me I am not sure. The issue of weirdness at hand here is my inability to be touched. I have a problem flinching. I know that it requires me to be hit two more times.

I am either too ticklish or it makes my skin feel weird. It is hard to describe but I am a person who squirms. Most often I tense up when touched. I am not sure if I was not held as a child or maybe I was held to much. I will have to get out the life balance scale. That would be an interesting device.

Touching in general makes me nervous. Not consciously, but unconsciously. I flinch when someone puts his or her hand out. I am not sure if I believe that the person is going to hit me. I am not really fond of massages or head rubs. I know most people like those things, but it would not be my form of relaxation. Even handshakes are not that comfortable sometimes. In some cases, when a person squeezes my hand it hurts a little bit. I know what you are thinking, "You wimp." Yes, it is true. Speaking of handshakes, it is weird to feel hands that are extremely rough and on the opposite note, hands that are extremely soft.

I know this post has been useless, but that is me. You can poke me with the ten foot pole and we can call it even.

Dis--apointment

Hello all you eager employees

I know you are ready for the end of the workday. Well so am I, but I have to wait a few more hours. I was hoping that the building would close a few hours early. But it was not meant to be. Usually on long weekends the building will close a few hours early on the Friday before. It has always been an unwritten rule.

Now I suppose the times are changing. I hope this wonderful perk does not disappear. I know as a worker I am ready to disappear.

Well have a good weekend...no matter when it starts.

Now that's reality tv

Dear people on my viewing screen...How did you get in that box?

I admit that I do not like reality television, or at least what the population calls "reality tv." I used to go on tirades and storm around or was it wear tiara and prance around? Shows that are labeled reality television I could not stand to watch. I get on Wendy's nerves by my lack of self control around these shows. I try to let Wendy enjoy Survivor.

Wendy and I did watch some interesting television last night. The shows contained clips of real people, okay I did not see the birth certificate, but I am believing they are real. Of course they were doing stupid things.

The first show was The Exterminators. It was so bizarre it was interesting. The show features a family in Louisiana who are in the exterminator business. The main guy is dressed in goth or punk. I am not sure which one it is. A camera crew follows him around as he disposes of critters. The episode I viewed he captured a beaver and got rid of thousands of roaches. I have to admit that the guy, Billy, knew a lot about exterminating. He gave some pretty interesting facts. I might would watch the show again, if I remember to record it.

Also we watched a program called Outrageous Weddings. The show's premise was clips from weddings that had strange aspects from the proposal to the reception. Most of the clips were too amazing to believe. One of the most interesting clips was of a bride who wanted a wedding cake in her likeness. So the cake decorator made a five foot four inches representation of the bride. It really did look like the bride. I would think that would have to be disturbing to see them cutting into the cake. I think from what they showed the weddings were able to finish even though circumstances did cause a few interruptions.

Maybe reality television has hope...as long as you entertain me.

Too quiet

Well hello all you working stiffs,

It has been a quiet week or more here at the building. Some people are saying, "Oh, it is the quiet before the storm." I think it is just naturally slow. the pre-summer and summer period are slow times for us. It is pretty quiet in the building because everyone is out doing their things they promoted during the year. Plus vacation, vacation, vacation!

Sometimes I see the value of it being slow, but mostly it does drag the day. Often it can turn into a mind numbing experiencing. So when I do jump off the cliffs of insanity hopefully I will have a comfortable lifeboat waiting on me.

Aye, captain.

Pronounced effect

Hello all you talkies

I just thought I would share a quick experience I had. One that I have been having for the past weeks. No, it is not that dream where I am walking around in my underwear. That is not a dream...and besides I walk around in your underwear.

Anyway, I keep getting those automated phone calls from several agencies. The good news is they don't want me. They want the person who previously had this number. It apparently was a woman name Tiffany. Not according to the automated voice pronouncing her name. It sounds more like...Ti-fanny. I would have thought Tiffany would be a normal enough name for the system to recognize.

Oh well. It is nice to know you are wanted, even though they want to speak to someone else.

On the goo

Hello you road worriers

It looks like it will be an early start to today. So the day will probably end early for me. Wendy is leaving early to babysit her nephew while her brother and sister-in-law prepare to move.

So I will be in batch mode for a few days.

Beat-attitude

Hello all you world combatants

Have you ever just wanted to smack someone? Well yesterday was my day. I wish that I could go back in time and beat myself up. It was one of those days that meaningless turns to violence. I am not sure what I would have done differently, but the thought is there that I could change. Give me one more chance ghost of Christmas future.

I think I have learned that I will be an extra. I came to this realization by standing around at work with seven other people trying to put up a board. Yeap, you could say I was bored. I think my career aspirations have become watching things. Examples...watching a computer monitor, a copy machine, somebody speak, and the list could go on.

I think I will be in an institution in the next few years. I will be sequestered from the public and locked in some room. I am sure there will be TV and books. That is pretty much what my life is like now.

At the ding, please turn the page.

Assault on the battery

Hello all you weekend warriors

It was a pretty good weekend for the most part. Saturday did not start off that well. Wendy found out that one of her favorite necklaces was broken. I am not sure if it broke in her luggage on her trip home. Then a tape measure we have broke. Wendy tried to pull out the tape and the tape snapped.

We left our house late morning to visit Wendy's parents. Since our driveway is pretty narrow, we had to switch cars. I put my car out on the car so we could take Wendy's car. As I got into Wendy's car she told me it was not cranking right. She cut off the engine and then turned it back on. The engine cranked right up. So we did not think anything about it. We made it to Wendy's parents safely.

Saturday afternoon at the church of Wendy's parents they had a Super Sunday School Shindig. Wendy's mother had to be at the church a little earlier so Wendy's dad and us were driving later. We go out to Wendy's car and I put the key in the ignition and nothing happens. We think "Oh, no!" Wendy's dad gives a jump start and we figure it is the battery. We make it to the church and have a good time at the shindig eating hot dogs and hamburgers. Now is the trip back to Wendy's parents house and the car still does not start. So we get another jump to make it back.

Once at the house Wendy's dad and I visit an auto store to purchase a battery. The battery in the car was the original so Wendy got a few years out of the battery. Wendy's dad replaces the battery and the car cranks normally.

Sunday we go to church and then out to eat at a Mexican restaurant. It was pretty good. Later that afternoon we make the trip back to our house. It took a long time because there was a bunch of traffic on 40. I think I average for about 30 miles 30 mph. All of a sudden it opened up and we could drive normally. Still not sure what happened, but we made it back safely.

So for the most part it was a good weekend. There were a few unpleasant surprises, but the good outweighed the bad.

Welcome back!

No, not you. The one behind you. Okay, you can come along.

Hello you people doing that thing you usually do.

Well for those interested, namely me, my wife has returned from her trip. I picked her up from the aeroport yesterday afternoon. Her flight was a little delayed, but that was not a problem. It was amazing to see all the cars and the busy activity.

It is good to have her home, although it does feel a little weird. It has been a few weeks. It is strange to have someone in house. At least I know the electricity works. Honestly, parts of it do not feel like it has been that long. During the week I was always at work or asleep on the couch. During the weekends I was visiting friends and family.

That is not to say that I don't want Wendy to leave again. She is definitely the one who helps get me out of the house. Without her I would look worse than I already do. We are celebrating her return by visiting with her parents for the weekend.

Welcome back! Now does this shirt go with these pants?

A cut above

Hello all you beautiful people

Last night I was flipping around the channels on television last night. I did not find much to watch. As I was flipping through I happened to see footage of a breast enlargement surgery on BBC America. I have to say it gave my stomach a little nausea feeling.

The surgery was done by an Indian doctor who specializes in breast enlargement. I think the narrator referred to him as the "boob doctor." The woman having surgery was a stripper who wanted a larger chest size.

It was a an odd looking procedure. Granted I have not seen many surgeries, nor fortunately have I had any surgery. The doctor cut a slit on the breast. So basically there was this hole in the breast. The doctor took out some of the natural filler from her chest. Then he put the breast implant into the hole. He had to stuff it inside. The implant looked like a watery donut. Think about that during your next meeting.

I am also reading a book where the antagonist is a doctor who specializes in plastic surgery.

There are ways to improve yourself, but be careful about the ways you do it. Some are healthier and cheaper.

Meeting of the behinds

Hello to those in the comfy chairs

This week is a somewhat busy time for our department at work. It is staff week, which means that everyone is involved in meetings. I am not sure how this is different than any other time at work. However, the turn around for the meetings is much faster.

So since I am in the department that has to set up for these meetings, we have more work to do. We set up for one meeting, take that set up down, then set up for another meeting, and finally set up the room to its normal setup. Sounds fund doesn't it?

Our department has off times. We have to be in a rush and then wait. Yesterday was no exception. In the morning we had to do a setup and then wait most of the day to set up for a meeting this morning. Of course the future meeting took place in the room where yesterday's meeting was the longest.

I was the busiest after the time I was supposed to get off work. Fortunately, there is one more setup to do...at least for this week.

Just thought I would chair this with you. I will table this discussion for now.

Retch-ed

Hello all you up and comers

Yesterday morning I had a bizarre experience. I was sitting on the couch and started coughing. I coughed several times. Suddenly it seemed like there was something in my throat. It felt like I was about to throw up. I started making those audible gasps. I think to myself I had better get to the bathroom. So I rush over to the throne room. I am still feeling and sounding like I am going to throw up. So I make it to the commode and stand over the bowl. I cough one more time and dry heave. That was it. Nothing came out and I was fine. I still have no idea what exactly happened.

I am not a big fan of throwing up. To me it is one of the nastiest feelings in the world. It does not leave a good taste in the mouth either. I guess it is all the juices that make it not pretty to look at and not that great smelling. It is often one of those contagious things. One look and there are many multicolor waterfalls.

Granted I do not enjoy being sick, but I do not definitely want any stomach illness. It does make you mad enough to punch your stomach, but then you treat your stomach nicely and rub it. Patting your head is extra.

Well before you get too nauseous, I will stop spewing.

Two piece together

Hello all to those who look good in bathing suits or look good at bathing suits

I know this is old news, but I still see it in the headlines. It goes back to the Ms California scandal. First there was the conflict with the question about marriage. One point is that the question was asked by a gay man to a contestant in a pageant of unmarried women. I find that pretty odd.

Another thing that I find weird is every time they show their stock file footage it is Ms California in her swimsuit. I guess that is the only shot of the contest that was worth paying for. I suppose that the only aspects people associate with those pageants are the swimsuit and evening gown. The two extremes of flesh coverings. I suppose it depends on the length of the slit in the gown.

Back to the controversy, now as of a week ago, Ms California is back in the news...literally. There is a photo being flashed around of her topless with her back to the camera. The conflict apparently comes from a clause the contestants sign saying they have not participated in any inappropriate photos.

I think with the popularity of uploading and downloading photos it will be difficult not to capture anyone in an inappropriate moment. It is all about what people find interesting.

Remember to smile for the camera.

Giving me the cold shoulder

Hello all you warm fuzzies

Well today is going to be a weird one, at least for our area. The morning temperature is the high. The good news is that the low is above the normal low, but the bad news is that the temperature will be falling. It is going to be cooler at noon than it is at 6 am.

So I guess today it is back to long sleeves. Oh well I guess I have to put away the tank top. Not that I really have worn a tank top to begin with.

Mutters day

Mmmm de mumble...Oh wait, wrong words.

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful women out there. This is your special day. Each one of you do a lot and often do not get the respect you truly deserve. Thank you for all that you do. I know that a card, phone call, dinner, or visit is never enough. So this post will never do justice to all the mothers out there.

Mothers are special breed. I think it has to do with them being women. I think that is one of the main qualifications. Women are naturally wanting to nurture. That is a good quality to have. Mothers often put the one they care about before themselves. It is hard for men to do these things.

Even those women who at present do not have children can still be celebrated on this special day. Though they do not have children of their own I am sure that they have people in their life they take care of. You don't have to be a mother in name to have the mothering instinct.

So to all the women, mothers and mothers to be, happy mother's day. You deserve it. Rest up because tomorrow you will be back at work.

Movie experience

Hello all you screen savers

Last night I went to see the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I know, I know. I am a week late. It was okay. For an action movie, it had action. The first ten minutes covered every major war for the past couple hundred years. Then the a bunch of mercenaries, who happened to be mutants, try to kill one another and take over the world. Oh, there was also the romance and the struggle between man and self.

Most of the critics I read said this movie was lacking. Some true comic fans found this movie lacking. Some things about the movie did seem off to me. A friend who I saw the movie with remarked how some scenes looked a little fake. There were a couple of scenes that I could tell were computer backgrounds.

It was a good two hour time waste. It had some decent action, if even it could not happen. But, hey, these people are mutants. Of course it did the proper movie thing and left it wide open for another movie.

Speaking of movies...Star Trek has become the new thing. I did not see it yet. It will probably be another week or so. Everything I read yesterday made some reference to Star Trek. At least it took the place of the swine flu. I would be interested to see how it did. Although I have heard someone remark that it is the second week that matters. I think that makes sense because a lot of movies were ranked number one the first week and then tanked after.

At one time I was a Star Trek fan, meaning I watched the episodes. The commercials I have seen make it look a little interesting. It looks like it will definitely have a lot of action. I would not mind seeing the movie, but I am not sure if I want to pay eight bucks in the theatre. I would go see it if I went with a group of friends.

Have a star powered day...

Sleep mode

Hello all you wide mouthed yawners

I know this comes somewhat ironic that I am writing a post of being tired so early in the morning, but I have been. This week after work I have come home and taken several naps. It is weird because not much has been happening at work. I get home and try to entertain myself. There has been nothing much on television or the books I have been reading have not been entertaining. So I end up napping on the couch.

I think my tiredness is a form of entertainment. If nothing is going on then my body automatically shuts down. It's thought is "since you are not using me, then I am doing something else." I must be a pretty boring person. It takes someone or something to interest me. I am not good at entertaining myself.

Well that is about all I have...Now that is entertainment!

Amount to nothing

Hello all you strapping cash to various parts of your bodies (I suppose strippers could count in these)

Last night I had a couple of items to pick up from the store. I had put off shopping as long as I could. However, the cats would have revolted if I had not picked up their food and bathroom supplies. So I decided breakaway and clear the dust out of my wallet.

So I went to the store of the great Wal. I did not have to pick up much so I just went to the local one. It is not a super, but it worked for my ordinary needs. I had a twenty dollar bill and wanted to spend no more than that. Unfortunately, the two items that I actually needed were ten dollars apiece. There were cheaper options, but in the long run I would have to go back and get more thereby costing me more money. So I decided on the long run budget. I did have a coupon for cat food, but it I could not find the brand of the coupon. I did get to use two coupons for some of my food.

I did not get to use my twenty last night so it is still keeping my wallet company. I think this is the longest time I have had cash in my wallet. I suppose if I keep using my card I will have to put the twenty back in the bank.

Well now that the cats and I are fed, I think we will all be happy. At least until the next meal.

Overreaction

Hello all you great expectations

I know that sometimes things seem like they are really bad. Then you look back at something and see it was not as bad you thought. Granted I am one of the world's worst at overreacting. If I am doing something and it does not turn out like I expect I get extremely upset. It is of course over something small or something that I cannot control. When I am in those situations it feels like life and death. However it is only life.

I know that people will not agree, but I have seen some overreaction in the news. To me these swine flu exposure is getting on my nerves. I know if I knew someone suffering personally I might feel different. However, I look at the small numbers of the infected and then the total numbers of the population. It seems like a very small percentage. There are probably more people that die because of things stuck up their butt then this swine flu. Of course the media should put out precautions to the public, but there is no need to hog all the air time. Especially when someone can take care of himself by normal ways of staying healthy. I know I have a limited understanding of what is going on.

Another overreaction was last night. There were some pretty bad storms and tornadoes in the nearby area. Granted this was cause for alarm, but I am sure there were people who were overreacting. The weathermen were looking at radars and cameras and hearing reports from spotters. There were those who thought that the ominous clouds were about to lead into a funnel cloud. Fortunately, this do not happen, but only in a few places. For the most part we can look back and say it was not too bad.

It is hard not to overreact in situations. We want to things to meet our expectations and when they don't we want to force them to. Just remember that most experiences only last a few minutes compared to well a lifetime.

Money grabbing little children

Hello all you nickel and dimers

I did not see the full story, but I saw a headline that children who have jobs are more financially successful. I would think this is a given. I mean if a child has a job then he is going to have more money starting off. Of course the earlier you have to be responsible the more practice you have at it.

It all goes back to the entrepreneurial spirit. The key to success is to start young or become incredibly lucky. Those that usually make a lot of money had to work pretty hard, at least for a little while. From the limited books that I have read about those that are successful, these people tend to start early. They have the drive to succeed. They are not afraid to work hard.

I do not have much drive myself. I did not have to work very hard when I was young. My parents wanted me to concentrate on education. I did not really have a real job until after college. Sometimes I think this may have limited me. I at least have money to pay my bills. Even though I will never have enough to get everything I want, or at least 30 percent of what I want.

I get by with a little help from my friends, or at least their money.

Terror-ific

Hello all you who should be in bed right now

Yeap, that includes me. I just thought I would give a wrap up of the daily horror show. It was one tough day. I woke up this morning and did not feel quite right. Everything was just irritating me. Nothing good was on the news. It was a long day at work. I was working on a long project that I will still have to work on tomorrow. My machine kept messing up on me. I busted a light bulb. I was ready to see the end of the day.

I get home and nothing is on tv worth watching. So I take a little nap. A friend calls and he is going through a rough time. Will anything happen that is good today?

Finally some good news...Our cell phone bill was at first astronomical. Wendy calls them and gets it straightened out. Apparently we were given the wrong plan and the auditors were charging us more. Fortunately, for us and our wallets, the friendly representative is able to give us a credit.

Things are looking up. That is one pain I can handle (the sore neck from keeping my chin up).

Here's to a good night and a better tomorrow.

Reigning?

Hello all you wet watchers,

I know the weather has been warm. The local forecasters have been talking about rain since last Wednesday. Their predictions have been a total washout, but without the rain. Every day it has been a front is bringing the chance of storms. However the only storm is the people rushing to the window to see the hot air.

They say today is a better chance. We could use the rain. I don't think I want to hear about the possibly of a drought. Let the gardens grow.

Horsing around

Ladies and gentlemen let your horse power roar,

Well if you were a race fan then you certainly had your fill yesterday. It was Kentucky Derby, which to those in the know (does not include me) showcases multiple horse races. There is also the occurrence of women's hats.

While at my parents' house, the television was on the Derby day coverage. And it was day coverage. I think the main race was to start around 7 pm and the coverage I saw was at 11 am. I am not sure how the broadcasters came up with that much filler. But that is why they get paid. They talked about the track, the owners, the women's hats, other broadcasters, famous people who were at the races, made predictions about the races, and oh yeah the horses.

It is amazing that the race lasts no more than two minutes. It is like a lot in life. You put so much into it and boom! That is it! I know to some people the sport is about the competition. To others it is the competition to make money. The owners spend thousands of dollars on horse and training to make hundreds of thousands. If they win, it is worth it. Though to some I am sure it is still worth it. It would have to take some form of passion, no, not bestiality, to raise and train over twenty horses, narrow down one, and do it again year after year. Along with patience it takes a lot of money. I am sure they are the success stories.

Then there are the people who bet on the horses. I am not sure how it is now, but in the older movies that was the way people always wanted to make money. "I'm going to the track!" I am willing to bet it is still big business.

Those little riders called jockeys sort of unnerve me. They weigh less than me. I believe they are called jockeys because they hug the horse like underwear. I am not saying they are not athletes because they look to be in pretty good shape. They do have to have strategy on where to place the horse like other drivers in traffic. But have you heard these guys talk? They have the strangest accents.

Which leads me to wonder-Why is it the Kentucky Derby? I mean the only thing Kentucky about it is the place. The jockeys and horses are from all over. Apparently they have many derbies but the one at Kentucky is by far the famous for some reason. Well I guess anything to help a state pull in extra income.

Well I had better return to the gate. Remember to keep on track and keep betting on the long shots. It might pay off like this time. The winner was one of the biggest long shots in history. However, you should also bet on a sure thing.

Keep on truckin'

Good day or night to all you parked in lovers lane or some other secluded spot

The other day there was an incident at work. No, I don't think there was any bodily harm. I did not see any of those events firsthand so this is all secondhand information.

Apparently yesterday afternoon there were some teenagers who wished to express their deep respect for one another. They were in the parking lot in a truck trying to do as the romantics. I am not sure how far they got before they were stopped.

I was working on a project for work when I saw one of the employees pull up to the door. He went into my supervisor's office and out they went. I thought maybe it was something to do with a vehicle. In a way it did. Later a coworker came in, who works in my department and had witnessed the event, and told me they had to run off two teenagers in a truck involved in inappropriate behavior. He was upset about it because it upsets him when young people do stupid things. I think that young people are always do something stupid. That doesn't like adults off the hook because we do stupid things all the time also.

My supervisor came by later and told me they did have to run off the teenagers. According to him, they were clothed and left without incident, well further incident.

I suppose these two teens were just practicing for prom night. I suppose the good news is that now you can get your exercise in a parking lot two ways. You can park far from your destination and walk and now you can, well, um...The birds, bees, and BMWs.

Meals on wheels

Hello all who eat on the go,

This weekend, technically today, I will be joining you. It seems that my meals today will be elsewhere. The good news is that I don't have to pay for any of these meals. It is nice to get free food, that I don't have to prepare.

The church is having a Baptist men's breakfast, and women are invited, this morning. It is usually pretty good. Then I am going to visit my parents. I will get some kind of meal there. Then tonight a friend has offered to cook dinner. I just have to get over there. With my sense of direction it is amazing I get anywhere.

Well that is what is on the menu today.

No piece if no peace

Hello all who protest too much,

Certain women in Kenya must have been Seinfeld watchers. You may know the one I talking about, once I mention it of course, the gang goes on a celibacy vow. George suddenly begins to think clearly. It goes under the assumption that men's brains are preoccupied with sex, so if there is no sex other thoughts are able to break through.

Kenyan women are hoping this is true. Starting this Wednesday, eleven women groups are vowing to give up sex to promote peace in Africa. They are protesting the fighting leadership, which the women feel leads to massive violence against the Kenyan people. The strike is expected to last a week.

Will it work? Who knows? The only way is to go for it, uh, or, not go for it, as the case may be.
