Friday, in our neighborhood, is trash day. Part of the money I pay to the Town of Cary goes to garbage pickup. The container is one of those large plastic bins on wheels. Basically, a large rolling trash can. I try to put the container on the curb on Thursday night, so no to wake Wendy by rolling the thing at 6 am past the bedroom window. I try to be considerate, especially when she says do not be a moron. So the trash can is on the curb.
As I am getting ready to leave the house, I see a paper cup and some other trash that I missed when taking out the bag. The leftover trash fits nicely into the cup. So out the door I go with my lunch, keys, and trash in hand. I go up to the container and try to lift the lid. I throw it up, since it is connected, to try and drop in the trash. Part of the trash goes in, some falls to the ground. So I pick it up and try again. This time along with the trash, my keys go into the container. Of course they fall to the bottom. I put my items on my car and try to dig out the keys. I just cannot reach. So I have to lean over the trash can. Somehow the keys defy gravity and end up on the top of the bottom of the container. So I have to dig through all the trash to find my keys. I have to crawl into the trash can. Plus I have to get on the ground and it is wet, so now the knees on my pants are wet.
I was able to get my keys without making too much of a mess. However, it was just another example of the annoyances I have faced this week.
